No. Exclusive hire is based on an agreed minimum spend on food and beverages rather than a separate venue-hire fee.

A minimum spend is the total amount your group needs to spend on food and beverages during the event. It is not a flat fee charged upfront; you simply need to reach the agreed amount through your orders on the night.

We will confirm your minimum spend when we send through your booking details.

Once we have confirmed your date and booking details, you will receive a booking confirmation email. Follow the link in the email to complete the required payment details and pay your deposit.

Yes. A deposit equal to 20% of the agreed minimum spend is required to confirm exclusive use of the upstairs space at Freeman & Grey.

We will provide a food-order sheet preloaded with a suggested selection of pizzas, snacks and platters suited to your group size. The food can be staggered throughout your event.

You can adjust the quantities and serving times and note any dietary requirements directly in the sheet.

We will give you a confirmed deadline when you book, typically around two weeks before your event. We will also send you a reminder closer to the date.

Confirming everything by the deadline helps our team prepare for your event and make sure everything runs smoothly on the night.

You can note any dietary requirements directly in your food-order sheet. Our team will then help you identify the most suitable food options for your group.

Absolutely. You are welcome to bring your own cake, and Freeman & Grey does not charge a cakeage fee.

You can bring it with you on the night or arrange to set it up earlier.

You can choose the total value of your bar tab and place restrictions on which drinks it covers, such as beer and wine only or no cocktails. You will also need to nominate the person who is authorised to increase the tab if required.

We can also arrange a partially subsidised tab. For example, the tab could cover $7 from the price of each drink, with guests paying the remaining amount themselves.

Yes. You are welcome to arrange your own DJ for an exclusive upstairs event, or we can organise one for you for $100 per hour.

A DJ supplying their own setup will need to bring their own equipment and an XLR cable to connect. You can also use your own Spotify playlists to personalise the music for your event.

Yes. Speeches and microphone use are available when you have exclusively booked the upstairs space.

Yes. There are flat-screen TVs in the upstairs space that you are welcome to cast to using Chromecast.

Absolutely. You are welcome to personalise the space for your event.

You can generally begin setting up decorations 30 minutes before your exclusive-hire period. This allows other guests to continue using the space beforehand. Please let us know if you think you will need additional setup time.

To help protect the venue:

• Confetti and glitter are not permitted.

• Sticky tape cannot be used on the walls.

• All decorations must be removed at the end of the night.

Balloons and other decorations are welcome, but you will need to arrange a way to hang or display them without using tape on the walls. Please plan this before arriving so you can use your decorations as intended.

Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access to the upstairs level of Freeman & Grey. The ground floor of the venue is wheelchair accessible.

Guests aged 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. All minors must leave the premises by 9pm.

As Freeman & Grey is a licensed venue, patrons are required to present valid identification when requested.
